Arena Puebla A place of fun and tradition. September is one of the most important months for Mexicans, not only because of the national holidays but also because of the «National Day of the Mexican Wrestler and Professional Fighter» which is celebrated every September 21st. That is why it is necessary to talk about the emblematic Arena Puebla, the sacred place for wrestlers, the place where such exciting shows are held for Mexicans. The Arena Puebla was founded on July 18, 1953, is located on 13 Oriente 402 in the popular neighborhood of El Carmen, and has space for 3,000 fans. It was inaugurated by Salvador Lutteroth González also known as the father of Mexican wrestling and who was the founder of the World Wrestling Council (WFC). Besides, this space works as a wrestling school, with more than 20 years of experience. This year it celebrated 67 years since its creation, but due to the pandemic the celebrations had to be postponed.

In its inauguration, the stellar fight had great figures such as Black Shadow, Tarzan Lopez, and Enrique Yañez, facing the Verdugo, the Cavernario Galindo and the famous Santo «The Silver Masked Man», who was the Welter World Champion at that time. Different wrestlers have embellished the nights in the ring, among them are Blue Demon, El Huracán Ramírez, Arturo Casco «La Fiera», El Perro Aguayo, Seminarista, Califa, Danger, El Hércules Poblano, Gorila Osorio, Petronio Limón, El Jabato, Manuel Robles, Furia Chicana, Gardenia Davis, El Faraón, Enrique Vera, Príncipe Rojo, Tarahumara, Chico Madrid, Gavilán, Sombra Poblana, Murciélago, El Santo Poblano, El Perro Aguayo Jr. among others. Every Monday the Arena Puebla is crowded with families, Mexican and foreign fans looking to relive the excitement and fun that characterizes this sport through cheers and laughter. At the end of the night, attendees can buy a mask of their favorite wrestler, take a picture with a wrestler and enjoy different Mexican treats such as chalupas, cemitas, tacos, etc. that are easily found near this venue. As everyone knows wrestling is one of the most popular sports in Mexico. That is why it is not a surprise that at least once children and even adults have had a wrestler as a superhero.

In Mexico, the most popular wrestlers have been El Santo and Blue Demon, who are now part of the legends of the sports world. They even starred in several action movies, which are now part of Mexico’s popular culture.
